GeneSight Testing at Inner Wellness

Finding the right medication shouldn’t feel like guesswork. The GeneSight test is a simple at‑home cheek swab that gives more information about how your body may process certain mental health medications, so your treatment can feel more personalized and less trial‑and‑error.

If you feel nervous about trying a new medication, this test can help Inner Wellness provider, Ashely Wilkens, narrow down which one would work best for you.

What is the GeneSight Test?

GeneSight is a genetic test that looks at small differences in your DNA that can affect how you respond to many common medications for depression, anxiety, ADHD, and other mental health concerns.

It does not diagnose you, and it doesn’t spit out one “perfect” medication. Instead, it gives a color‑coded report that shows which medications may be a smoother fit for your body, and which might be more likely to cause side effects or need dose changes. When the results are in, they will be reviewed by Ashley Wilkens and discussed during your virtual visit.

How It Works with Our Virtual Visits

Step 1: First Consultation

During a virtual appointment with Ashley Wilkens, you’ll share your history, past medications, and what hasn’t felt right so far. Together you’ll decide if GeneSight makes sense for you right now.

GeneSight Test Sent

If you decide to move forward, a GeneSight kit is mailed to your home with simple step‑by‑step instructions. Then, you mail it back to the lab.

Lab Analyzes Your DNA

The GeneSight lab studies the sample and creates a report that shows how your genes may affect the way you process certain medications.

Results Reviewed Together

Once the results are in, you’ll have another virtual visit with Ashley. She’ll walk through the report with you in plain language and use it to help shape or adjust your medication plan.
